Victorian English Gold-Plated Lucky Horseshoe Pendant Necklace 23"
A stylish English horseshoe necklace from the Victorian (ca1888) era! This wonderful equestrian-inspired piece consists of a horseshoe pendant that hangs from a decorative chain. Both the chain and pendant have been gold-plated, lending a wonderful high-karat appearance to the design! Lining the front of the horseshoe are 7 raised studs (always 7 for good luck!), which are silver-topped for a mixed metals look. A delicate textured bar link chain is attached to the top of the open horseshoe, fastening securely with a spring ring clasp in the back. Stamped on the reverse side of the horseshoe are several English hallmarks, including the maker's initials "J.H." (possibly "Joseph Hicks"), a Birmingham anchor and lion, and a date letter "O," which indicates that the piece was assayed in the year 1888. Both stylish and versatile, this everyday accessory is perfect for the equestrian enthusiasts collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures 23" in total length. The horseshoe pendant measures 1 1/4" tall, 1" wide, and 1mm thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold-plated pendant or chain. The spring ring clasp fastens securely in the back.
