Victorian French Sterling Gilt Etruscan Urn Earrings + Perfume Pendant Set
A gorgeous Etruscan pendant and earring set from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in silver gilt, this matching set is 3-dimensional in design and French in origin. Each piece forms the shape of an urn, that hangs from a delicate chain attached to a round surmount. The smooth surface is embellished with wonderful Etruscan details, including delicate beads and lovely scalloped wirework that wraps around each piece. Grecian-style handles rest at either side, which are attached at the top to a link chain that connects to a complimentary topper. Simple wires rest behind each earring surmount, allowing them to dangle with lovely movement.
The pendant is slightly larger in size than the earrings, and features a cap at the top of the urn, which twists open to reveal a hollow interior, originally used to store perfume. A hidden bail rests behind the surmount, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. A French swan hallmark is stamped in a few locations found throughout the set, including the edge of each handle, earring wires, and bail. The earrings and pendant are quite substantial in size and appearance, but thanks to their hollow design, they remain lightweight for comfortable wear. Whether worn separately or as a set, this Victorian ensemble would make a fabulous statement when worn!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 1/2" long, including the wires at the top, and measure about 5/8" wide and thick. The pendant measures approximately 2 5/8" long, and measure a little less than 3/4" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant and earring set is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to silver gilt setting. The bail and earrings wires are secure and in good working condition. The pendant cap twists opens easily and stays securely closed.
