Victorian Large Sterling Gilt Bohemian Garnet Encrusted Heart Pendant

SKU: 45045

Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed-back setting crafted in rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.

A beautiful Bohemian garnet heart pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in rosy sterling silver gilt, this beautiful heart-shaped pendant is encrusted with faceted garnet stones on the front. The vibrant garnets rest in a shared prong setting and display lush hues of deep reds which look fiery when they catch the light. The heart hangs from an embellished garnet bail and would hang nicely from a favorite chain. Perfect for a garnet lover or a January birthday, this heart pendant would be a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 1/8" long (including the bail), 1 1/2" wide, is approximately 11/32" deep.

Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver gilt setting or to the bohemian garnet stones, all of which are secure and intact. The bail is secure and in excellent working condition.
