Victorian Sterling Turquoise Swallows + Heart Pendant Necklace 16"
A lovely and unique turquoise necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! This wonderful sterling silver conversion piece features two bird links flanking a romantic heart that together attach to a modern silver chain to form a delicate and whimsical necklace. Hanging from the center is a delicate heart pendant that is adorned with beautiful turquoise cabochons in a fantastic checkerboard pattern. Resting horizontally on either side are two swallows decorated with additional turquoise cabochons along the body and wings. The sweet birds are embellished with fine etching on each head, which face inward towards the heart. The turquoise stones exhibit various shades of sky blue hues and sea foam green, pairing beautifully against the silver setting. The delicate chain fastens securely in the back at a lobster clasp stamped with a "925" silver purity mark. Stamped on the back of both bird pendants is a "935" silver purity mark (indicating a higher silver quality than sterling) beside a maker's mark. This stunning and romantic compilation design merges seamlessly into modern day fashion and would make a wonderful addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The chain measures approximately 16" long. The heart pendant hangs 3/8" inches long, measures a little more than 1/4" wide, and is about 1/8" thick. Both swallows measure approximately 5/8" long, 3/4" wide, and are 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or chain. The turquoise stones are intact and securely set. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
